2010 Worcester Music Awards Best Female Vocalist "Singer-songwriter Kim Jennings has the voice of an angel. Most people only
dream of having a voice like hers...Jennings has got it. Wispy, soft, sweet, powerful, gentle,
commanding, beautiful...these are just a few adjectives that describe this gal's natural vocal
abilities." "Singer/songwriter Kim Jennings released her first album, My Own True North,
through Birch Beer Records in December of 2009. With grace in each vocal step, the album takes
the listener on a powerful journey, one that stirs emotions tucked down deep in the soul since
childhood and covered with the slapdash band-aids of a fast-paced ascent into adulthood." "A prolific and prodigious songwriter. So many times I've seen Kim Jennings
perform a song that stopped me cold and someone equally paralyzed informs,
'she wrote it yesterday!'" "In her unassuming way, Kim Jennings enters the stage, opens her mouth to sing
and a bird flies out, offering lilting melodies and words powerful enough to rip your heart out,
give it a kiss and place it gently back into your chest."
  - Trisha and Phil Knudsen, The Center for Arts Natick "A few people who knew me in the room said, ‘Wait 'til you hear Kim's songs...’
She started singing, and the room got so quiet I could hear myself breathe. I think everyone wanted
to hear every word she had to say and every beautiful turn in her voice. They stayed quiet just for
a few moments after she was done to make it last just a little longer...I think. I know I did." ~ ~ ~ Kim spent her first couple of years as a “singer/songwriter” performing – under her maiden name, Kim Flynn – at open mike nights in coffeehouses and bars near her hometown in the suburbs of Boston. And then, life happened: marriage, house hunting, and motherhood. After a few years away from music, Kim found that she couldn't push the muse away. Writing new songs as fast as her hands can keep up, Kim just finished her debut full-length CD with Seth Connelly at Humming Lake Studio. The album, My Own True North, was released on December 1, 2009. In the summer of 2009, Kim co-founded the indie record label Birch Beer Records with fellow singer-songwriter Dan Cloutier. Kim and Dan founded Birch Beer Records not only to support their own albums, but also to raise the visibility of the local music scene through promotion, distribtion, and general hooligan antics. They both know there's a ton of great music being made right in their backyards, and they want the world to know about it. If you want to help Birch Beer Records, heard on over to the website, sign their mailing list, or find other ways to get involved. Support Local Music! |
